Minors – sole trader

Many young people are eager to set up a business, but certain rules apply if you are under 18.

Persons under the age of 16

If you are under 16 years old you cannot be a sole trader.

Persons between 16 and 18

If you are older than 16, but younger than 18, you need your guardian’s consent to start your own business. Your guardians are your parents, parent or public guardian.

You also need a chief guardian's consent. If you live in Sweden you will find a chief guardian or a board of chief guardians in your municipality (kommun).

You will be registered as the owner. Submit the guardian’s and the chief guardian's consent with your application form.
